that happened to me years ago, even with draining tanks, blasting everywhere with airline and letting it dry out somewhere warm for a few days, loads of water blasted out of the exhaust when it fired up. it ran fine and is still going strong now. there was a loop in the rope and after refuelling my bro just clipped the nearly new saw into the loop, i pulled and it made it halfway up the tree before dropping into the river below and was washed over a small waterfall ..followed rapidly by my bro, its ok he can swim:thumbup:

Chances are it will be ok,if it was only ticking over when it whent in,give it a good clean out, drain & replace fuel, plug out & turn it over while its upside down,& also with the exhaust pointing down, maybe blow the carb out ,dry the filter,& give it a go.

I would want to get it running asap to avoid the potential for the bearings to rust.

If you do get it going let it get nice & warm too.

This also happened to me, we felling on the side of a steep hillside, put the saw down to put the wedge in the back felling cut, turned around to see the saw slipping back and tumbling down the hillside into the small river below whilst the engine was ticking over, ran down, failed to catch the saw in time before it landed in a pool in the river, got the out of the water, poured water out of the exhaust, cleaned and dryed the filter, left the saw to dry for a couple of hours, started after a 5 or 6 pulls, splutered for 10 seconds or so, but no problems there after.
