I will be taking this up with Silky after another couple of glasses to fuel my rage!

Meanwhile, I will adapt my old (screw on type) lopping head to fit the excellent telescopic pole.

But they arent made by silky. They are made by a different company altogether who are riding on the silky name and product reputation but making cheaper rubbish.

But have a few drinks, Im on the rum and cokes

A few weeks back I bought a Silky Hayauchi 6.3m pole pruner.

Awesome saw, great bit of kit, excellent build quality, very happy with it.

BUT - I also bought the Sintung lopping head.

Doesn't have the same fixings as the saw-blade (doesn't utilise a perfectly good pop-up stud, instead has fiddly bolts) and the build quality is awful.

Cheap, pressed parts and weak springs. After 4 weeks of light use the blade won't return. Todays reduction was a PITA.

I'm truly disgusted. Every other piece of Silky kit I've had reeks of quality.

Anyone had similar experiences?

Have you tried writing to your local M.P or the Daily Mail...?

Yeah I got the lopper head and used it a couple of times and firstly found the pulley system was a pain in the arse as it means you have to pull the cord 5ft to get it to close all the way.

After using it a few times (maybe 3 or 4 small prunes) it's lost a spring and got a bit of metal bent. Got to take it back as I am really annoyed that a product with such high standards is of such poor unthought out quality.

The problem though is I like the poles and there are cool as hell because it feels like you holding a samurai ;-). So I was thinking of replacing the looper head and modifying it, using thicker cord, taking one of the pulleys out of the equation, and what is the point of the stupid loading piece of metal?

Hope this makes sense, any thoughts?

It is miles better Will, but it won't fit straight out of the box.

I just drilled a hole in the collar to correspond with the pop-up stud in the top pole section.

I'll get a pic if you want.

18 months or so in and it's still earning it's keep.

Yeah if you could get a pic Mark I would appreciate that as well. After re reading the thread I realised it was a reopened thread. Your solution sounds a lot easier. Thanks
