blaze is a hard rope tommer as is liros.

 

basic rule, soft rope with hard cord and vice versa

Yeah looking at it like that i see what you mean. I bought the blaze at a show ages ago for very little, and have only recently started using it as its a bit thin unless i wear gloves. Im not really a fan of it TBH but beeline works well on it.

I've recently bought 35m of Yale Scorch and I hate the stuff. Samson Arborline handles superbly and its perfect for a lockjack, I'll be right back onto it!

What don't you like about it??The edelrid experience rope work well in lock jacks , I think the Yale XTC range is a pretty good rope for friction hitches it's just a bit heavy.

Still trying to get to grips with all these new ropes and terms, everybody seems to say that things are better now but reading this thread it looks like it is possible to make expensive mistakes in choosing your kit. 20 years ago we just had nylon rope and a ring strop, (Prussic loop) we used to splice eyes in the climbing rope, similarly we used to splice up our own ring strops, clap 'em on the rope and climb. We did occasionally have jams but they usually were easily cleared by fiddling with the prussic. I like the basic rule though: Hard rope, soft prussic. Soft rope, hard prussic; makes sense that.
