Strange but true ?

It was brought to my attention on todays large conifer reduction . That there are not many if any ethnic minoritys doing tree work . The customer asked if I was aware of other tree surgeons from this back ground or indeed if I had ever seen or heard of any doing this work . I can only recall one from the london borough although his name evades me at present . Is food for thought though ?

The first guy I worked with (about 15 yrs ago now) was west Indian. Good climber and a strong guy. I think he's still going strong and he must be close to 50 now. At a guess anyway. Hope I haven't offended him if he reads this and knows who he is.

But to the original point, no I don't suppose there are alot at it when you think about it.

Great always smiling and a hard worker that was early 90's.

So I guess not that many different ethnic cultures do get into the trade

On this side of the pond, now that you mentioned it there are very few ethnic minorities in the business of Arboriculture. After attending and exhibiting in hundreds of shows at the regional, national and international level I can say they are very few or far in between, from an owner/operator stand point. From a groundie stand point there are legions of them, but I think most prefer to work from the ground usually much harder than they need to so as to not loose face amongst their peers, Sad but all so true!
