not all things are caused by the person using it some things are out of your control e.g. felling an oak tree and it falls over backwards, softrot no holding wood how could you know.

The rot should be seen when the gob is put in, or observed in the saw chips whilst making the back cut and mitigating measures taken, IE, install pulling rope.

If proper techniques are used there should be no reason for a tree to fall back wards

ok folks getting mixed feed bac here, im no macho nutter with a saw, i know fine well wat can happen if im daft with the saw, in the chipper post you will all notice i do daft things whe there is NO danger.

i am wary whe using chainsaws but it doesnt feel like fear and its dependant on what i do, ie snedding x cutting etc etc.

i respect chainsaws and any advice that has been given to me i have tried to encorporate into the operation of the machine.

i am still learning as we all are but i am not a silly young lad that thinks he isinvinsible, at the end of the day i have a son to think about n the last thing h needs is for his daddy to stop seeing him because he was an idiot at work and wasnt paying much attention to what he was doing.

i hope that explains things better guys

If you don't feel fear why bring it up?

Your the one who started this thread.

You basically said " I should be in fear of chainsaws, but I'm well hard, so I'm not!"

If your not scared why bring it up?

Maybe not a good example, but i dont think you are human if you dont have a small amout of fear with 89cc engine turning razor sharp cutters on a 36 inch bar and no human can read all the signs and do all the other jobs and watch staff and all the other things that have to be done only the terminator can do that:001_smile:
