I'd love to know how many of us have been caught swearing and throwing a tantrum in a tree because we've had an eye whipped by a (Pin Oak) twig or a thorny branch up the arris. I know I've been caught out throwing an almighty tanty before.

Haha been there too

epicormic on limes is THE worst.or perhaps small dead leylandii twigs?

Don't forget field maples. I go at them in a positive frame of mind, thinking,

' this one will be different'. About five minutes in and my hair is well and truly off.

If it's in your way and not significant to the tree as a whole, lop it off, it's not worth the wear and tear on the nerves and temper to try to work around it.

Glad to see that the same old problems are still there.

when a bit of tree does something humiliating like bitch slap you, or go up your nose, or whip your sack, or try and remove a contact lens. it gets a stare, sometimes a slap back and then a quick removal everytime. i thought it might just be me that got so upset when a tree tried to humiliate me. thank god i need no longer hold back, next time i get a slap from a twig i'll show it what i think with pride!

cue one lankyk, noisy tree surgeon throwing a hissy fit up a customers tree!

To be honest I get more pleasure in chipping the branch that slaps you on the way through, some sick joy comes over me as I'm watching it die. Then I find myself thinking I'm a crazy person cuz I'm talking to myself and giving running commentary as it's being fed in. 'Die b!$?c'

This technique is most used on cold mornings when your knuckles are more sensitive.
