Just thought i'd let those who own an eagle know that the log cradle on my machine failed today, basically there is a bracket that slides back and forth on a threaded bar that stops the cradle going to far back this bracket failed this morning allowing the cradle and a length of 2 metre by 8 inch timber to come slamming down on my shin then trapping my foot above the steel toe cap. (believe me it hurts), maybe worth checking yours before you start work each morning.

  • 2 weeks later...

photos of broken bracket, over a week late :blushing:

the first pic shows the broken bracket.

The second shows the cradle lying on the floor, you can just make out the part of the bracket still attached to the bar that the cradle slides back and forth on:

Can you see any fatigue in the metal around where it failed how old is your eagle dont fanncy that happing much could be really nasty.

No signs of fatigue in the metal, the eagle is five years old and it was nasty my shin and foot are still slightly bruised. Also the blade was still spinnig unguarded.

What has Maaselan Kone / or Large, the UK agents said?

OK it's 5 yrs old but short of an 'accident' stressing the bracket to failure - they would want to know (and help you out?) I would have thought.

After all, 5 yrs is nothing for a machine like this.... :001_huh: and it looks in good nick?

Tell you the truth i haven't informed either of the above, i'll email the pics to them tomorrow.

Should do if I were you...and....if the response is as it should be then a new cradle should be yours :thumbup1:

Hakki Pilke 'ain't a back street brand here and they will want to know what's happened and why if it's a fault or even if can break 'by accident'

Keep us posted; it's an interesting one
