More on that snake-barked maple. The best I have managed is pinching another leaf on the way back from the pub the other night, I literally have not had a moment to spare in daylight even to get a pic of the bark. So, here is a fully formed leaf, points and all.

looks like semi evergreen possibly cotoneaster sp

by the way, the yellow fungi is of course H. fasciculare
