Tree ID practice

Hi, my two pennerth worth. The entire margin is confusing me, and the assymetrical leaf base. Anyway is it a Sapindus sp. poss. drummondii? thats the second lot.First lot looks like Phellodendron as said before, maybe a Tetradium daniellii.

aaaaah we're entering the realm of dried up 'herbarium' type idents... should be fun..

OK the first one is actually according to the label in the Botanics the Japanese Cork Tree which I recall was given P. lavallei. From one dried leaflet probably indistinguishable from P. japonicum or amurense. Right, that's one oriental place reference used up.

I was half right then worth P. amurense.

Alliaria, I should have clarified your Sapindus guess is not right and also doesn't have an oriental location reference in either the common or the scientific name.

Damn, only just caught up with thread...

Could have astounded aabody by saying Toona sinensis (but that would have been based on your earlier reference to surveying Glasgow Botanics rather than any sublime id skills!!).

With bark like that it could only be Salix, couldn't it?

 

S. fragilis or S. alba, i'll go with Salix alba
