There is a bit of play (up / down) in the 6 spline pto shaft attached to the vehicle. I presume this is due to bearings been worn. Is it risky using the pto with a shaft in this state.

Is this a mog or a tractor?

i would do it sooner than later, bearing failure on the drop box will lead to premature failure on centre bearing (expensive!!) and possible pto drive UJ's.

simple to do and not that dear if you use a bearing factor rather than main dealer

IME, with mog's you are better fixing thing straight away, they will keep going with faults, but it ends up costing much, much more in the end

Thing is, if there is play, it could be putting ground up metal into the oil or the shaft could be spinning in the inner race of the bearings.

Best see to things like that straight away, saves you pennies in the long run.

A mog IS a tractor!! :001_tongue:

Did I run over your dog or something?

For your information a mog isn’t a tractor. UNIMOG is an abbreviation for (translated) universal motorised implement. It can be registered as a 7.5 ton truck, for which it carries a manufacturer’s plate the same as any other truck, as a special vehicle, or as a tractor.

The reason I wanted to know if it was a mog or a tractor is simply because it’s a completely different job.

PPS my mog is 10.5 ton so you could not register it as a 7.5 ton truck :001_tongue:
