Best pto chipper ???

Looking for 12" - 18" pto chipper for circa 120-140hp tractor. Was looking previously for one with crane but got roofmount instead.

 

Wondering what's best i.e. Jensen A041 vs Schliesing #? vs TP 270/280/400 vs Farmi 380 vs other ???

 

MUST be good on brash, not just timber...

maybe have a look at a TP - they seem to about as good as it gets really , how much use do you have for it John ?

We use to have a 10" tp dont know the model:confused1:. It ate everything very ruthless and I was gutted when it got nicked.

Plenty for now, not buying new, just want to hear of experiences and not buy a mistake. Seen a farmi, but it's tired and I've heard they are crap on brash, conny etc. Like the big Jensen a LOT...

I really would not agree with that.

 

Don't get me wrong, they are good chippers, but compared to a Schiesling they are mediocre, IMO.

fair enough , i thought that the 2 part flywheel made a big difference when chipping bigger timber , if i remember right the reason for the 2 part flywheel was because a standard single flywheel would twist in the rotor housing when chipping to capacity . But then you learn something new every day . How do you rate the Front mount Schiesling Dave ?

Are you going to crane feed the chipper ?

 

If so then get a Heizohack. Crane feeding a disc chipper is ok but once the blades are dull it doesnt do so well.The heizo will keep on going.

Blade resharp on 3 big blades is very expensive compared to the cost of the little blades in a heizo. Heizo is good on brash with a hyd ram on the top roller-AC Price do this.

Good advice, they are incredible machines and very, very good doing brash, which some of the large fuel chippers ain't.

 

I watched a huge one Alex mounted on tracks, the performance had to be seen to be believed, it filled a silage trailer in seconds!!
