dreaded chipper strikes again!

so it seems that lately its 1 problem after another with my chipper! 1st no trailer brakes! then new feed roller! then new feed roller wouldnt work! blades knackered! serviced it and now theres 8 mounting bolts that mount the engine to the chasis they have all sheared off and are stuck inside the engine "they are not flush with the engine" ive managed to get 1 out in 2 hours of trying! ive drilled them but some of them just will not budge!

Weld something to them that you can the get hold of and turn.

 

The heat of welding them helps to get them moving, IME.

they have sheared off about 5 mil inside the sump so i cant weld onto it

How about a nice bath of diesel and try an easy out thing or is it a long session of tapping out

ive soaked them in wd40 tonight ready for tomorrow! its a seriously **** design all the newer engines have mounting plates on the side for easy access

What sort of a chipper is it?

Its an old kwik chip 222.

Can you not get the Engine out?Be alot easier to get the bolts out with the Donk on its side.

Is it the 2 cyl Ruggerrini engine?

 

If so, same happened to mine.

 

Lift the engine out like Mike says.

 

I did, then drilled the broken studs and removed them with a stud extractor.

 

All but one came out easy.

yeah it is that engine...ive already got it out and arent having much luck with the stud extractor 3 are out and 5 will not budge! got a friend that owns an engineering firm sorting it for me! big ammer did you just replace the bolts or did you modify it some how? i think its a really poor design.
