Just ordered a 1.25 one and am using 13mm rope. Now reading your comments have I done the right thing. Could you not make the retrieval clip wider by bending it slightly so that the the rope runs more freely,I hope so after spending £150

 

I would not bend it. no no no.

 

It's not an issue if you're rope can't fit through the clip as you will always be installing it or uninstalling it at the end of your rope.

Just feed the spliced eye easily through the clip.

These are what I use. No point over complicating things with that snap in my opinion.

 

its not complicated, just looks more but its easy, and its a one handed affair,

and i bet your still using a ball for recovery.

 

I've got one of those witchard snaps so I'll splice one up and see what it's like.

When you say one handed you mean when you're installing it? I'll have to dig mine out the bag and have a play.

I am still using the ball.

yes its one handed, you pull the pin then put your your rope in and just close your hand around it and it closes automatically, rings are so much better, easy through the pulley and very strong when needed if in trouble.
