Sounds good, is that a cylinder base skim and popup piston.

Or "if you told me you would have to kill me":001_smile:

Is there any scope for cylinder modification, other than reducing height ?

H-A

Just took the base gasket out and bingo, a nice lot of compression - you could do a pop up but the cost would be prohibitive on anything but a saw for anyone wanting to spend a much larger lump of dosh!

The porting is pretty limited - piston windows can be enlarged, the exhaust port can be widened but wouldn't recommend modding the inlet port!

The muffler can be drilled to good effect.

I had an MS250 melting the worms just the other day. Someone had fitted a new worm AND a new steel washer plate between it and the clutch (you know, the one with TOP stamped on it).

Except it was a plate for a different saw, the dished part in the centre was too small a diameter and it was pressing hard against the worm when assembled, This tried to drive the worm and melted the surface. I melted two before I sussed it.

There's something not right :confused1: I can see this saw going on ebay

If it was mine I would fit a new one, crank down the clutch and than use a thin screwdriver to make sure the oiler arm turns freely.

I think GardenKit and I have put forward two reasonable issues that may have caused the problem - both will have the effect of locking the pinion in place and the oiler arm spining round the pinion thus melting it:thumbdown:

Don't just refit the new one, check the oiler gear and shaft are turning in the actual oiler and then make sure you do the above - if you are sensible and approach it logically - the issue will be found and resolved:thumbup:

Mr Spud, thank you very much for getting the 372 back to me so quickly :) she seemed to run nicely for 4 tankfulls today :) bar and chain need some love though I think lol. Not sure if the 24s too big for it too...

Husky 395xp- broken clutch spring. What's best, just replace 1 spring, or 3? Does the clutch have to come off for this!? And where can I get some by the weekend!? Can't see them on LS engineers.

Thanks :)

replace all 3

The joys of dealership!

I sold a JD ride-on in August to a chap 20 miles away.

He phones this week complaining it wont start. It stopped whilst he was using it.

I ran through the obvious things, petrol etc. He said he first thought it had run out of petrol so he went out and bought a gallon. When he took the cap off there was still some fuel but he put more in anyway. Still would not start.

So he is not happy, he says it has to be a fault with the machine and I have to fix it, which of course I am happy to do. So sent the van driver to collect it.

When it arrives in the yard I try to start it but the battery is flat by this time. Put the jump pack on and it still does not fire. I check the tank and there is about half an inch of petrol in the tank, not reaching the pick up point!

Put a gallon in and try again. Fine. I phone the guy and tell him, ask him why he did not put more fuel in. He says he did not put too much in as he did not want to waste it if it was not the problem.:confused1:

So we take it back and charge him but he pays reluctantly. Only charged him £50... includes 80miles, 3 hrs pay for van driver and 5litres of petrol, and he thinks its too much as it should be warranty:001_rolleyes:

Stay in the garden shed Spud!

Found this in behind my clutch today:thumbdown: then tried another and it melted:confused1:

Is this saw a MS260? is the small steel washer that slides on the crankshaft before the worm gear in place?
