What's on your bench today?

What I do is fit a new piston without the rings, place the clam to the cylinder/crankcase and see if the engine can be spun round freely with minimal resistance and the clam/cylinder not forcing the joint open and closed - if it is not easy to turn over (without the plug in) ands the lower clam keeps trying to open and close then the rod is likely to be bent - it works better with conventional style engine where there is no need to bolt the cylinder down but does at least give you a bit of confidence in the rod.

Cheers for the advice. :thumbup1:

I once had a bent rod and managed to striaghten it incorporating this check - not sure I want to let on how though - it was more blacksmith than engineer:001_rolleyes:

I've got to decide just how involved I want to get with it. Already ordered a new Husky strimmer from Jonesie to replace it, so down to whether or not it is worth repairing as an extra. The repair will be beyond me so will be getting farmed out. :001_smile:

I can categorically state that they will not be going on ebay or elsewhere for sale:001_tt2:

I have got through a number I have robbed for various parts and they will be useful to me to keep these guys who keep sending me clapped out MS200Ts going, glad the MS201 has been so well received:001_rolleyes:

Thanks Barrie, much appreciated:thumbup:

New pair of cranks seals in a husky 359 and fit a new muffler on a ms230 this afternoon for me.

Whilst im writing anyone know much or have a wiring diagram for a 5.7 kva Honda diesel generator? Its not producing 240v. Only replaced the brushes a few mths ago so don't think it will be them but not sure how to check the stator wiring outputs and as a new stator is around £200 (so ive heard)im not going to replace it without knowing its at fault if I can help it.

Sorry Steve, I did not really think they would.

( had I thought so Iwould have asked for a share of the profits:biggrin:)

That's OK Barrie, no worries, I see there is a guy doing that sort of thing on ebay - didn't want people to think I was scrounging parts just to make a quick buck:001_rolleyes::lol:

I had around three amongst other things from MattyF for some work I did for him and they have been damn useful to be honest.

I would like to see ebay man fix the one I have just done on a poorly MS200, time will tell if what I have done is enough - some are right buggers to fix!

Thanks for these, it IS much appreciated and knew you were pulling my plonker:blushing::lol:
