OK, 026 again. Carb is very clean and rebuilt, however the saw won't start (although it will if you put a teaspoon of Aspen in through the carb) and there's petrol under the carb, so that would be leaking impulse line/fuel line (although the fuel line certainly didn't leak before as it sprayed me with fuel after standing for several hours).

New lines on order, fuel line is easy, but which bits do I have to dismantle to do the impulse line?

Oh an impulse lime on a 026 is a pita. Ok. So chain cover off, recoil off, air filter cover off. And top cover off. Leave the carb boot although it is tricky but save time in getting the carbs and everything off. A long nose pliers and a flat screwdriver. Maybe two pairs of pliers. Go in from the sides and work it out. Lots of swearing and fiddling should get it out and new in.

Failing that pull carb boot out and do it that way but due to that stupid plastic plate behind carb it's always a pain as it does nothing but get in the way.

A first for me today, pulled a spark screen out of a ms170 and it was quite plugged. Never had that before.

Burned it off with the torch and put it back together, all is well.

Ok so it's not a saw but is important. Stopped working this morning and opened it up to find the belt had gone.

Rich, you need an old piece of inner tube and some good super glue, cut the tube along the length so you have a flat piece about 3 inch x 1 1/2 inch glue the belt to the inner tube in the middle then once thats dried fold over one side and glue, then once dried fold over the other side to over lap and glue.

Got me a weeks worth of washing done until the replacement arrived.

Now that's some good advice...

I have been down to halfords after much searching in various repair shops and got a drive belt from there. Although its not the right one it is the right size. Fitted it and it seems to turn ok but won't know until its being used.

Nice light loads for now. Ordering the part on Monday. Fingers crossed.

Although the other half has informed me its half term next week so not such a rush on for school clothes but still need to do some washing. If that fails there is a laundrette down the road. Just need the washing part. Drying can still be done.

Thanks Rich, I'm good at swearing but some extra practice always comes in handy.

After 2 days of ride on services it was back to 2T machines today.

First up was a nice easy job, an MS200T with a stripped thread for the bar stud.

Fitted a helicoil and a new stud. A simple job and now much stronger than the original.
