Great fix Barrie, I'm a great believer in 'put it on the shelf something will turn up'

Mind you I do seem to run out of shelf space regularly

But not too good when the customer wants his saw back, Bob:biggrin:

Thanks Rich, I priced up the one used on the cut off saws, but really wasn't going to justify it based on the few I do. I'd be interested to see the plate you've made if you get the chance to post a pic.

 

This is how i blank off the inlet manifolds on TS410. Simple and effective 2 bits of plate and a piece of 3mm rubber. Could all be made from 1 piece of plate but i didnt have any wide enough when i was making it.

So I take it you connect onto the impulse line to pressurise/vac the saw then?

 

I've got one in bits at the moment, so it looks like I'll be fabbing something similar.

No, i connect the impulse line to the crankcase and the nipple on the intake mounting bracket as it should fit, i connect the vacuum pump through an adaptor i had specially made that fits the spark plug hole.

I have a Makita DCS 340 from the late 1990s with the starter cord hanging out. I've got the nut off the flywheel but can't see how to get the flywheel off to get to the starter pulley behind. There doesn't seem to be any room to get a puller around it? Help!!!!

Wedge a screwdriver between the crankcase and flywheel and belt the end of the crankshaft with a mallet:thumbup:

yes. but be very carefull, dont wedge it too much, but it will need a good push, hit the end of the flywheel with the mallet hard, it will jump off with the screwdriver puishing from behind.
