What shall we cover now Rich - perhaps we should start a "Found out something interesting today" thread:thumbup:

 

Always good to learn a new fact or two...my bosses roof was constructed out of old ship timbers - very old oak frame and the timbers had obviously been used before - an expert reckoned Fench!

 

Seems our Royal Navy in those days went round robbing anybody that sailed near them with something worth pinching.....sort of sounds about right...mugging our Euro friends:lol:

Husqvarna 125r strimmer today.

A bit odd, was told the choke wouldn't stay on. Sure enough every time it would spring back to the run position.

Cleaned all the crude out from around the carb linkages and all worked perfectly, easy fix.

Took it outside the workshop to start, pumped the primer only to find fuel pouring out of a perished fuel line. Parts ordered.

Hamm, PORTSmouth..... PLYmouth..... Can see the confusion. :lol::lol: one is the epicentre for the navy and docyards into the uk. And I'm not really too sure about the other. didn't hey name a car after it:001_tt2::lol:

Personally, I find working on saws bliss as you can get them on a bench and work on them with your back straight!

 

I would have to agree with working position, I've slouched too much in my life already and back aches sometimes due to that.

 

Well think I'm going to just mess around with one on a bench. Practise makes perfect, everyone has to start/learn somewhere. :-)

Ancient Hayterette

 

Non- chainsaw alert!!

Blade carrying disc is broken - probably got a bent crankshaft too - haven't fired it yet.

Am wondering if there's any good reason i cant just swap the engine completely for i.e a Briggs Classic or Tecumseh which I have a few spares of and substitute the disc for a conventional rotary blade?

Chain break handle for an ms200t turned up today so fitting that tonight.

 

Hd it working today and it was slow on cold start. Had to fittle the throttle to get it to rev up. Once running ran all day with no porblems. So not happy until I get it sorted. It's running fine and will tick over all day, cuts lovely and high revs are perfect. Just got to get past the warm up stage.

 

No accelerator pup in the carb. So another good clean out of carb and a tune up on the low side should sort it.

 

Passed a vac and pressure test no problem.

Too much in the "pending" area, and too little in the "done" area.

 

If the customers would only stop ringing to ask if there kit is ready, I might actually get the time to get it done.

I'm not at that stage YET.

 

But did pick up a leaf blower on way home. Also got an ms180 to look at. And got 4 mowers to come. Got home, sat down, and the phone went mental. Must be nearly Friday.

 

Oh and an old Hayter style mower that needs a new Briggs and Stratton 7hp coil. Barrie.......

Ok. Will get them tomoz. I've worked on the mower last year when it would try and take off when starting. Had to play with it for a while to sort it out. Was running like a dream. But now no spark. Tried plug, there is a small jump there, enough for me to let go of the ht lead quick.

 

But not enough to give a good visible spark, so new coil is the way to go.
