If the saw will run. Even tho it may be run I would try and get it warmed up and do another comp test. One hot one cold. May give a small indication on compression.

Thanks Gardenkit, it does drop fairly easy when held by the pull cord. It's just had a new piston and rings in it though that would lead me to believe that the bore has widened?

 

Rich2484: with a working carb on it behaves as a normal ms200 should. I swapped carbs with a working saw, it idled no probs and revved up to full with no probs again but I haven't tried it through wood.

Funny one that, I had an MS200T run without the impulse line being conected, forgot all about it until Gardenkits post - very strange but glad it is fixed.

 

Alvin - is the piston wet with fuel/oil as on a dry piston, I have had 135psi and it has gone up considerably once the fuel/oil is around the piston and rings.

 

The other thing is was it a quality piston and if the saw was seized, was ALL the aluminium transfer removed carefully?

 

It is unlikely the bore has widened to a degree where it is causing 20psi loss of compression - if it was that worn, I would expect to see aluminium coming through the Nikasil plating.

 

On a standard 200T, I would expect 145 - 155psi, on a modded one 160 - 180psi:thumbup:

 

Oh, this is with holding the throttle wide open while pulling it over with the gauge in!

I do remember the piston packaging came in a white box Spud. Cause of failure is unknown to me but I'll get a Meteor piston in the post and strip it all down again good possibility of aluminium transfer still on barrel. Back to square one.

Any aluminium transfer left on the bore will soon ruin the new ring and the white box pistons are not as good as the Meteor ones!

 

Been working on a Husqvarna 40 - what do you all reckon on this sprocket - time to change it yet:lol:

Yeah looks a bit shocking. Shows how far people will check there climbing gear every time they climb but not there saws every time they sharpen or change the chain....
