Yeah I know the sheet talk was more thinking out loud, for fabrcating new I think bandsaw steel would be ideal just getting it thick enough would be the issue although I have been meaning to pick up some spent woodmizer bands for ages to make odds and sods.

 

The mod plan would be fit a different band almost complete maybe a slight tweak at the end and rivet it to the still existing "tab" on the handle end, relies on finding a very similar diameter curve with close enough shape and enough length to overlap the tab. A lot of if???

 

Anyone who has nothing better to do and wants to humor me, whats the O.D. of a 372 clutch drum the 116 is 80mm.

 

I hate scraping otherwise good kit.

There are a lot of good dealers in the US, some of whom are on ebay. I have found bits for my bostitch nail guns there that I couldnt get in the UK. They were also a hell of a lot cheaper, even taking postage into account. Posting up a request on some of the US based chainsaw forums might also bring you some luck as well.

Not a saw today it's a blower Echo PB-770 to be precise was going very cheap because it has the carb issues they are notorious for so won't reach full revs unless left on half choke.

 

Plan of attack is:

1 order new £20 wyk-345 carb from China

2 run a bit of seafoam/mechanic in a bottle or similar through it wait for that to make no difference whatsoever.

3 Clean carb properly not bothering with carb kit as they cost as much as a new carb does. Find that also makes no difference.

4 receive new carb in post put that in find it runs perfectly & order another ready for next time it goes wrong while wondering why I wasted my time with steps 2 & 3.

 

Unless anyone has a better suggestion.

I guess you have checked the piston to make sure it is OK. Carb kits are better value from Rowena Motors and are the original carb manufacturer kits rather than Stihl/Husky rebrands!

Not got experience of these machines but it sounds like high speed fuel issues to me!

Well known problem with the PB-770 the Walbro WYK-345 carb that Echo use is set to run too lean but has no H adjustment screw, some of the Chinese carbs are the versions with the H adjustment screw so if I get one of them then that should solve the problem permanently if I get sent one without the adjustment then I get to replace the carb every few months until I find a supplier that does send out the adjustable ones.

 

Also toying with the idea of buying some Aspen to see if that makes a difference rather than running it on petrol. As backpack blowers are not used as frequently as the handheld ones the extra running costs of Aspen wouldn't be an issue.
