The delmhorst one that i got from Rob (alaskan mill fame) seams very robust and reasonable. The only trouble is the highest reading is 30%, but as i only want it for milled timber and logs it is not a problem.

I've stopped importing them now as I sold the Delmhorst ones more of less for what I paid for them.... I think on the whole you get what you pay for in a moisture meter.

I have just bought a morso and very happy with it up to now, seems to be consistent and accurate. Got mine off ebay, 29 quid if remember right.

I tried one of the stihl ones this week. feels a bit small but nice clear display which switches of after about 10 seconds to save batteries which are the little coin cells. over 40% displays OL but accuracy is in line with the other meters we have. I dont tend to smack meters into wood if you press gently and it reads 35% things arent going to get better further in

I bought a Kamasa recently (looks very like the Stihl) and I find even on a just cut log, the more you press it in the higher the % reading. It can go from 16% to 30% depending on how 'deep' it is. :confused1: I think I will just stick to pressing lightly against the log - it makes for better reading!

The log is 30% you need to cut the log in half and measure in the middle. Banging them together, smelling them, all funny to watch but a cheap meter will tell the real story.
