I like trees but as we know,

there's no two quite the same.

A big take down or leylandii hedge,

just two aspects of our game.

Reducing beech on a monday morn,

may fill you full of pride.

but tuesday the dreaded conifer hedge,

"my god its 12 feet wide!!"

Wednesday maybe different still,

"can you top my 40 feet ash?"

you turn up and find an elder bush,

disappointing,but still its cash

Thursday and its time for pop's,

and the wind bites cold and hard.

then the rain comes sweeping in,

"bugger this lads,back to yard"

Friday afternoon soon comes,

"we'll have a job and knock"

but it looks like saturday morning too,

'cos the chippers gone to pot.

We love the trees,of course we do,

and often to obsession.

thats why we treat them with respect,

or they'll soon teach us a lesson.

We tackle them with MEWP's and cranes,

with our husky's and our stihl's.

a more satisfying job ther 'aint,

and it also pays the bills.

A stressful jobthis sure can be,

but we wouldn't change a thing.

when you see for miles and count 6 churches,

in the sun,you feel a king.

I like trees but its more a passion,

i'm long set in my ways.

i'll live amongst and care for them,

until my final days.

Well we certainly got the old favorites and plenty of ones that despite 20 years in the job I haven’t heard.

Many thanks to all who entered

Here are the winners

First place

ScottF

I like trees but they block the Sky signal getting onto my hideous dish nailed to the side of my house which in turn stops Rupert Murdoch's beams of stupidity from turning my brains into a foul-smelling pot of slurry.

And that, my friends, is why I like trees...

First runner up

Adansonia

I like trees but people are starting to accuse me of being a-bor

Second runner up

Richard Allinson

I like trees but......my family needs food and a roof over thier heads.

There is a thin line between ethics and survival

If the winners could PM me with an address I will get the prizes in the post
