jkw is a pig get hold of sherriff amenitys they do a stem injector with 5ltr canister for £90 then get the stuff they sell for eradicating it i believe its similar to roundup but much stronger. you need to inject into main stem this will then go down into roots system and kill it off. then when the foliage has died then you can cut it but will as other posts need burning on site and the fire needs to be hot so a good base first. it will take up to 3 years if bad to get rid of it.

make sure you charge the proper amount for doing this job its not a cheap job to do.

have fun if you do do the job.

re doing near watercourses. you need a AW licence on your PA6 and need a permit from EA to treat it. you may get it done this year if EA pull there fingers out and issue permit and theirs a charge for doing it and they may want to do a site visit. still be ready to do it next spring when it rears its ugly head again:biggrin:

Was re asked about this job this morning!

Never got round to it somehow.....

Clients wanting to sell the house, so i'm back looking for answers

There is also a weeping willow in the garden, the client keeps clearing the stuff but thinks its going to put off potential buyers which it probably is!

Not sure i want to get involved... don't want to transfer any back up home on gear or on my person...

I reckon that if you need to ask, you'd best decline the job. Japanese Knotweed has very specific requirements for eradication, and I think the client is guilty of wishful thinking if they think that 'just cutting back' is going to have any effect whatsoever.

Agreed!

May sound ridiculous but I did a test on JKW a while back . Stem injection worked best with standard neat antifreeze . Ok the ground will be contaminated . This test was carried out on a friends property . The ground has since been block paved by the homeowner and no jkw has returned so far and its now 14 months later . Make of this what you may . We also tried red diesel which did not work .

Mortgage is impossible with JKW on the property.

Only real solution is dig and remove. Spraying is ok but near water course is a can of worms.

just treated a load of it with stem injector in to crown with neat glypho. see how it looks in a weeks time. but other bits that were injected all dead and not come back. think your find that injecting it by watercours ea ok with it as does not go into water. but i still would get a permit to do it cover my back

Yeah. It's an invasive weed that will push into buildings and we've dealt with it pushing through cavity wall into loft space.

My dad knows a lot so I can let him know and pass his number to you if you want?
