I have an ascender I bought off ebay, but it scares me every time I use it... really need to replace that.

As a customer I don't really see any advantage to using ebay over a reliable arb supplier. I bulk buy, which is easier when everything is coming from the same place/website, rather than having to search through for items from the same seller. Personally I've found paypal to be nothing but a faf, and ebay would just seem like a middle man.

So I suppose the real question is, why would I go on ebay rather than just ring up/go to a shop? Unless there's a significant discount...

Owa youngen bought one of those "tree surgeon ropes" off eBay, description said it wasn't ce marked but this guy knew it was good enough to climb on. Long story short it wouldn't be any use as a dog leader he's not the brightest haha

If it's going to work you would have to provide competitive prices and people would need to trust what they are buying, eBay seems a bit of a minefield when buying. I can't see how the shops I've dealt with advertised on here could be beaten but saying that I do wish you the best of luck nowt wrong with trying mate:)

To be honest mate, I very much doubt you will get good enough terms off the suppliers to be able to compete with the reputable dealers such as are on here. You'll always get the ones who have no idea of the worth of gear though, such as the person i once saw pay £35 for a stihl toy chainsaw

Thank you for your imput, I think I am going to contact the smaller distributers purely out of intrest now considering no one on arb talk wants a arb related ebay store!

thanks for your imput.

thank you for your imput, out of intrest the ascender you bought, was it second hand, as all stuff Im anticipating in selling will be new. I know alot of people dont get on with paypal, but I know alot of people do. and its the last point which is really interesting, I think that alot of people use ebay for the ease of purchasing and paying, but as you have obvisly stated you dont! if I do sell up and move to arb you will get a significant discount on your first order!
