what splitter you running.

An axe and two wedges. split four lengths as i fall it leave it for a few months and then extract it. seasons quicker that way and zero overheads. i'm in debt to no one, no grant no loan. i extract about 6 tonne a day by hand and i enjoy it. i am having a spitter built though front mounted on the tractor which will do 4 four lengths without getting out of the cab. diesel is going one way up!!!!!!!!!!

i don't know how the estates/farmers make money on firewood here? it must just be the grant that my taxes have paid for.

I must apologise to farmer ben. Norfolk is full of big estates that can only/will only operate with a government grant. firewood is being used as something to fill the mens time which ain't very helpfull to those who have been doing woodland work for some time, have a mortgage to pay but don't have the turnover to qualify for grants. again i'm sorry for my generalisation.

steve , is that a vented mesh on the sides ,

Yes vented mesh top half never got round to putting it on the lower half. I am sure a clear roof would be better but not so sympathetic to the neighbours. Its amazing how quick wood seasons in a tunnel.

Back to the top of this thread.

1. I'm flogging off all my stock at bargain prices.

2. I'm worried I will run out before the season is finished, such is the demand.

I'm not a log supplier and never have been. I have had thoughts of doing it as it's something I love. I have always been put off by the competition I would face. Competition who, on the whole don't seem to want to make any money. You can't compete with that.

I really don't want to piss anyone off here but this thread makes me a bit cross to be honest.

Supply and demand.
