rope wrench ZK-1

Yo!

I'm very intrigued by this system ever since I first saw that F8 revolver system the other year. The wrench seems like a great progression onwards as it is smoother than the F8 where I found the F8 too hard to tender slack.

Imo I can see this system has a particular advantage in accessing and working in large trees compared to drt.

Because we are now dealing with a single rope and not doubled up as in drt, what does this mean in terms of rope selection for the climbing lines? Would it still be the same?

Cheers

Liam

You still have a single tail and are pulling on the line with your hands, so I would think you need the same rope characteristics for both.

A lot of guys use a static line like Sterling, snakebite or KM 111 when SRT climbing via the rope wrench. I use KM111 and it works perfectly, just the right amount of give to facilitate smooth climbing :) some ropes that are good for DdRT could tend to be too bouncy for the rope wrench.

KM111 is 11mm and works very well for me while climbing with the RW.

but weight and style of climbing will determine the best rope.

I guess even if it does wear a little bit, you can always tighten it up again. From what Softbankhawks was saying at the show the Uni is better for lots of up and downing. Whereas the wrench is better moving around more like DbRT. Good fun anyway thats for sure. The wrench seems cheaper, built to last better and simpler than the uni to me. As it isn't for life support does it need a CE mark? Or is that irrelevant because its not life support?
