hi guys and girls , ive been considering buying a tractor crane combo with a large grain trailer eg. valtra with roofmount botex .

i wondered how many people would consider hiring in kit like this iv worked out a day rate of around £300 this could include disposal of chip and timber if required

if i do buy one ill most probly get a 8inch tp chipper it seems a shame to chip anything above that size with logs selling as they do . Maybe a processor at some point to

id be happy to jump out the cab as well lol

any input would be great:thumbup:

Hi mate I have a valtra with a 580tl it will not lift 2.5 ton its about 2ton, i have mine running off spools i find it ok but would be better with front mounted hydraulic pump but i think there 2.5k extra i think.

I forget you loose a bit putting it on the roof. the trailer crane will lift 2.5. The pump is great feature. I've used an old skool one with the tank on the 3pl and the pump on the pto. Also wilsons fancy mounted pump keeping the linkage free.

I thought about that idea for many years but in the end decided (for me) it wouldn't be fast enough on the road and the crane not big enough, so last year I purchased an 18 ton hook lift lorry with hi ab 145 crane and timber grab. I can now leave hook lift skips on site or in the yard for putting the smaller logs in before lifting it up and shipping them out to the timber merchant. The crane has an 11 meter reach on and will lift 2.5 tons at full reach, 7 tons close in. It has become one of my best investments along with my 26 meter access platform. I also hire this out with operator at very good prices and am located in Meriden near the Nec but will travel any distance, so if anybody is interested give me a call on 07977 106671

I have this crane trailer tend to use it for picking up my own cord wood or occassionally assist tree surgeons by removing timber. Has a 5 tonne crane which lifts about 2 tonne on full stretch. The Mog belongs to a friend but I normally hire a tractor for a week.
