decayed tree dismantle useing false anchor

this video is basically to show a idea ive used a few times, dont no how much it is used by others, but its very handy especially on dead or dieing or decayed trees, if you needed rigging you can set up another seperate line for the rigging. its basically a zipline from 2 trees, with the tree your working on somewhere within that line and you set your climbing line anywhere on that line. for this tree i could have set my line from the willow alone but if the tree had snaped i would have had a nasty swing into the willow stem, with my line in thin air i would swing free of all objects. good thing about it is its fully installed from the ground and can be retreived from the ground simple set up but very useful.

It's in the YouTube settings. Go to your account and each video or a general settings option should be viewing allowed on mobile devices

I've used a similar set up for taking down lines of lombardies. If you put the horizontal line under tension (pulling the trees towards each other) you can then get the groundies to pull on the lowering line and the pull of the trees can lift the logs up so no/little shock loading.

not that often but its a good technique to know for dangerous trees.

 

Its known as a highline.

 

These pics are from a recent dead elm removal. The elm was long gone and the roots were almost non existent so set up a highline between the two Limes either side of the elm, no rigging just hand held sections, tree came down without incident -
