I engrave a number into each of my cutters with a Dremel,measure each ones length with Verniers and record the data on an hourly basis.

 

Imagine the fun I have with a bag of Rice....

 

does that not have a detrimental effect on the structural integrity of each cutter?:scared1:

 

how very cavalier!

 

I propose an in depth study into the effect on integrity with respect to different numbers. I propose the number 4 weakens a cutter more than a number 7.

I am glad you brought that up Jim.

 

Formally I used to stamp a series of Dots on my cutters,however due to the teeth being filed I would quickly loose the data.I then used a microscope and numbered them in a much smaller pattern,however this proved too time consuming and my trainspotting and attendance at vintage farm machinery rallies suffered.

I think "8" is the worst, and when you get onto big saw's your going to get "44" and "88" :scared1:
