I keep looking at these fancy new jackets, then I put on my 20 year old tripple layer Berghaus and think, they don't make them like this anymore. It's like wearing a coat of nylon armour. It's been to hell and back and there's not a rip in it. It's one of the old mountain goretex, same as the army surplus stuff I think. Bullet proof. Still fancy a Stein though.

My Stein has been keeping me dry through these wet months. And it's comfy too.

Well, as so many of you seem happy with the ex-services jackets I bought one for one of my guys.

It's Goretex, Hi-vis, has a quilted removable liner and a roll away hood. The fit is good as there is a long or short option and it has side zips at the bottom to facilitate bending in and out of a cop car. Or wearing with a harness and picking up brush, in our case.

It should be completely waterproof, the only question mark is durability although it does feel tough enough.

For the money, it's excellent value.
