Last week I splashed out (ha!) £70 for 2 ex-Austrian army waterproof yet breathable 'Goretex' jackets from the internet. They arrived promptly and looked the business.

Today Stevo and I got absolutely, utterly soaked right through to our knacker-sacks. Yes, it's been wet all day, but I was soaked after the first shower.

Time for the Cut and Climb I think.

£150 now seems a bargain to stay dry all winter.

just a thought how much climbing should we be doing in the rain ?? ....

there is always something that can be done... I mean using common sense I wouldn't reduce a beach tree, for example, in the rain (although I have done in the past) but I would gladly spike the hell outta it on a dismantle.

I am not too fond of climbing in the rain these days, but it is definitely character building!

As for jackets. My stein kept me perfectly dry all day long. I did have a british military goretex on over it though.:lol:

Its been raining here all day and stayed bone dry in my Berghaus goretex jacket and trousers. Being a climbing jacket, the hood is designed to go over a helmet for those big downpours!

They may have cost a bit (about £180) for the both but were cheaper than some "arb" companies waterproofs!
