I'm still working at the moment but just trying to cover all bases as to useful stuff il need for my course and stuff that I will keep using. Was meaning to buy a box of files good reminder. Do you guys use a jig for sharpening your chains or are they hopeless?

Down to personal preferance man, i was taught at college with the silly little guides, but free hand is so much easier imo, plus you can just ram the file down the side of a husky fuel can or in your logging belt.

:dito:

Get the big felling bar cos the other mickey mouse one is no good unless its always small stuff your cutting. At least 1 high lift wedge and a selection of others and dont forget something to hit them with.

mehhh high lifts are too expensive and they dont last too long

Meh hilifts pielifts :001_tt2:

x1 10" Oregon wedge (big yella)

x1 6" Oregon wedge

x1 BIG felling bar

Files

Husky file guide

First aid

Tongs. Bacho ones, Stihls broke on me.

Pulp hooks not worth using, I can use one end of tongs if necessary but they are handy on softwoods.

Dent, what sort of cutting do you do?

plastic wedges suck too, get some big old steel ones and you'll be away :thumbup1:

Well ive got most of the gear mentioned apart from a felling bar on the wish list. Just need to find out the pitch of my chain so I can get the right size files. Then push the magic buy button:thumbup:Also thinking of getting a smaller bar an chain as it's an 18 incher just now

yep 15 inch max recommended but you will get away with 16 usually if it,s stihl

roller guides do not work on stihl chain

High lift wedges are no good for a 30,31 course i would only get 1 small plastic just in case:thumbup:

have you got chainsaw gloves?
