Never been to it, I have always wanted to go but I hate big crowds and I know it gets pretty packed out especially if you are trying to get shots, look forward to seeing some shots.

Yep, get some pics up. I know I'm a horseman but theres something about a plane that makes me stop and watch. I used to live in Lincolnshire, nr Waddington, I always enjoyed the jets taking off, and The Battle of Britain Memorial Flight would be over us all through the summer, not forgetting The Red Arrows as well, rehearsing all through the winter.

I knew a farmer whose farmhouse and buildings were just off the end of the runway, he told me that as a boy he would watch the bombers take off in World War 2. Waddington airfield was built along with many others in that area on what the locals call, "The Cliff", anyway, the bombers would sometimes be so heavily laden they could not take off, the pilots would pull up the undercarriage whilst the wheels were still on the ground and the plane would fly off the end of the runway about 20ft off the ground, he said they would then drop out of sight as they "fell" off The Cliff into the vale below, he said it always seemed like an eternity before they rose up into view again. I was going to say bloody brave men, but they were little more than boys in many cases. Heroes!

The Spitfire and Hurricane had a bit of a mock dog fight over our house as we were having a BBQ - the guests were impressed that we had laid this on as were the ones at our Royal Wedding bash when the Lancaster came accross - got some advantages living near Old Warden!

I'll post a few pics.

Sad news that there was a mid air collision today between a Douglas Skyraider and a P51 Mustang. It seems no one was hurt but the Mustang pilot bailed out and the sky raider landed with half a wing missing covered in more oil than usual.

Sounds like the Bristol Blenheim at Duxford - they spent years getting airworthy and then busted it on the first flight - never good when one of these old planes gets damaged like this.
