compact truck with chipper and crane is this possible

As has been already said the power requirements for a hydraulic supply man enough to power a chipper is going to be quite substantial, that alone is likely to create a problem, having a vehicle running whilst no one is actually in it is also another, I have looked into mounting a chipper on a demountable system on my landy and I can see the need for it to be on a turntable even if it is fed by a crane.

The hydraulic system even if workable is likely to cost huge ammounts of money, ideally I would think to get it to work properly you would need to have a pump for the crane and another for the chipper, if it were me trying to do this (I wouldn't because your payload and chip area is going to be pretty naf once everything else is fitted) i would fit an engine driven chipper.

i don't know what the chassis layout is like but with some of the more compact petrol 6inch chipper probally one that falls in the <750kg trailer catagory could this be fitted between the chassis at the back with the crane or chipbox over the top of the chipper with an arch in the middle of the chipbox or extended stabalisers on the crane

at scraggs that for the input man i understand what u say with wieght but the mitsubushi fuso supposedly has a pay load of 5 ton so iwas thinking 1.5 t for crane 1.t for chipper that should technically leave 3.5t payload let me know what u thinks cheers damian

Is the 5 ton payload listed as the chassis cab or with a body on it? Because a body with tipping gear can be quite heavy, ive put a chipper on a cabstar just behind the cab and fed into a chip box, it was handy but was a bit high. sounds like a good project mate, remember and get some pictures, good luck with it

@ robert i think it is without the body but good point like u said u put ur chipper on ur cabstar it was to high thats what i thought thats why i thought bout the crane to feed it even if the body is 1.t chipper 1.t crane 1.t that still leaves me 2.t load capacity still more than a tranny pulling a chipper and i got a crane too what ya think may be a ally body would be lighter im gona have todo some no. crunshing how did u mount ur chipper on ur cabstar do u have a pic if not please can u take one and show it me cheers damian

Don’t just look at MAM, you need to consider axle weights as well. If you graft a crane and a chipper behind the centre of the back axle you are likely to get an axle overload.
