Girlfriends parents have bought a couple of bonsai trees, got one as a carmona but this one was labelled as 'shanghai mix' google has told me that other trees are labelled this too so that was no help!

 

One site pointed out a similarity to ligustrum but these leaves baffle me!

 

Anyone?

See that minute toothing on the leaves in the pic? Ligustrums don't have that. I have an idea what it may be, I just need to check :001_smile:

I was thinking Phillyrea latifolia. Maybe. Possibly. I've looked it up and I don't think it is.

Ill google that and see. The toothing on the leaves is what's had me too!

Probably way off base, it's not helleri (japanese) holly is it ,they use that alot in bonsai.:confused1:

 

:biggrin:I would think your bang on the money with that. The very slight serrations are what got me thinking Holly too, nice one!
