OK, as a non-aborist I'll bite. What am I supposed to be seeing here? :confused1:

A tree that has eaten a big rock (not good for your saw)

 

Ah, no. Not good. :biggrin:

I could see the tree has grown around something or developed some weird growth or fungus. Didn't twig it was something as simple as a rock. :001_rolleyes:

 

Mind you. looks like they didn't see it either until they got some sparks from the partial cut they made, I'm guessing.

Looks like an old cement filled cavity,we had one to cut up a while back,a dead elm trunk had falen into a pond,what fun,ended up cutting slots & banging in wedges to break it up to release the concrete.
