Ah, no. Not good.

I could see the tree has grown around something or developed some weird growth or fungus. Didn't twig it was something as simple as a rock.

 

Mind you. looks like they didn't see it either until they got some sparks from the partial cut they made, I'm guessing.

Looks like an old cement filled cavity,we had one to cut up a while back,a dead elm trunk had falen into a pond,what fun,ended up cutting slots & banging in wedges to break it up to release the concrete.

yea big nasty cement filled cavity! i saw one once that was bricked up, yea proper house bricks! it did look cool though with the tree trying to close around the bricks. I will need to go dig out a photo if i still have it...
