Declining Acer in a shrub bed......

as an experiment to see how long it lasts (and to probably cheese off the custodians of the shrub bed, due to their excessive over application of mulch :sneaky2::biggrin:) we've removed the dysfunctional canopy to give it back a shred of aesthetic dignity.

Robinia here from 2011 that had/has a significant colonisation of Perenniporia in both the basal & upper trunk regions.

There was also an instance of trunk vandalism.

We got our then apprentice, to do his first reduction.

A bit heavy handed and a bit inter-nodal in parts but thought he did a decent job, and got the required amount of canopy removed.
