Jumped in first few times (1999/2000 if I remember right), then the big fence went up, paid for a few years up until the fallow year somewhere in the mid 2000's. Decided not to bother again as lineups had been getting rubbisher and rubbisher. Changed my mind last year and decided to go, got my ticket all sorted, was actually proper looking forward to it, took the dog out on the Tuesday night for one last walk before I head off, bang... dog killed by a car. Couldn't face going anymore and didn't want to leave my wife at home alone. Sat and watched it on the telly while all my mates basked in the sunshine. Got an unhealthy Pet Shop Boys habit and my first tattoo. Sold my ticket on the Thursday afternoon to a chancer who made it in.

Couldn't be bothered this year. I assumed it would be rubbish weather too as last year was so good.

Bit cheesed off will have to wait another 2 years to go again, so will have been about 8 years between festivals.

Highlights of past were seeing, in no particular order:

Leftfield

Orbital

Underworld

Cypress Hill

Skunk Anansie

Hole

Sound systems dotted around playing banging jungle, techno and gabber (the current Shangri-la setup seems to be filled with breaks and house, having said that, Randall is up there, and MC Ribbz is on the lineup too, dunno who he'll be MC'ing for though as other people on that days lineup don't seem relevant).

Miserable experiences:

Ummm... think it's always been pucka.

Here's to 2013, subject to the northern hemisphere not being totally irradiated by then :thumbup1:

Im gutted im not going this year I tried for tickets back in october and had no luck then monney started becoming tighter and I started focusing on my work rather than drinking all my monney away or having fun.

Was such a good experience though and the weather last year was just to hot for me.

Trying not to pay much attention to it as im gutted im not there

Excellent link Rupe.

I think the last bit of that documantary summed up why I dislike Festivals such as Glastonbury- they are just too sanitised and 'safe ' for my liking, too commercialised.

This was my home for a while parked at the forest fayre many moons ago (the multi coloured thing) which was one of the last 'proper' festies IMO.

Each to their own though.:001_smile:

  • 3 weeks later...

how was it for everyone? my friend said it was fun, he spent about 5 minutes the whole weekend at the pyramid.

he said at the stone circle on sunday, some kid lost it on acid and stripped butt naked, going around starting on people, but everyone was in good spirits and just cheered him on, until he started on his girlfriend, then he was beaten up by several blokes. bet that was fun for him!

My groundie left today to work at the silent disco until Sunday, the friend I do crane work for set up all the lights etc in the trees up by the green field, a new buisness venture that seems to be doing well.

Saw those, there was an Ash as you went through from Green Futures Field into the Stone Circle that particularly caught my eye. remember thinking what a great job that would be to have had!

also have some pictures of the topiary plugs in situ at the chill and charge on my phone wich i shall upload shortly.
