Popped down to kent to see my mate today, and as always a big up for Ben Ballard for taking the time to show me the good stuff on the estate, thanks Ben, its always good!

First image here just to some up the mornings weather, oh yeah its that misty morning time of year again, if a little later than usual! this is the kind of weather i thrive in!

Then some great finds, with the best saved for last:smoker:

A nice yew in the local church grounds, reckon over a thousand years old easy. A nice big beech with some great polyporus squamosus brackets. A veteran ash with both perenniporia fraxinea and Pholiota squarosus, also showing the undermining rot via both these root decays and re iterative roots forming at the occlusional tissues:001_cool: then a big surprise, Pholiota aurivella on Juglans! chondrostereum purpereum on felled H. chestnut, meripilus on beech, Hispidus on a ridiculous lever arm! take note! and last, oh yeah baby, shes out again! hericium erinaceus:001_cool:

sweet now that is mad a true veteran interested to know what causing the hollowing?

I have a sneaky suspicion that the fungi we saw in the cavity was pluerotus dryinus.

Another Barn owl? Theyre freaking us out everywhere! Conspiracy? Great shots!!! Bens place is pretty sweet!

the owl was in the same vet castanea as last year, i was trying to sneak up for a photo but got the fright of my life instead! i felt the wind off his wings as he came out of the hollow limb here! nice bit of fistulina in it too:001_cool:
