drove through town and only one chimney smoking, this time last year it was a different scene, even the pub said it was too warm to light the fire. Mid Jan we will get an artic blast, been following a Canadian weather model that seem to get it right, so get ready for sales then :) fingers crossed!

I'm nothing to do with the firewood industry but we had our open fire on last night and had to let it die down, no central heating on as we all got so hot! Cant believe the difference this year.

Is that all what is it you think you are doing wrong to have so poor sales?

I 'phoned all my regulars up before leaving for hols and they nearly all said they're either burning considerably less due it simply not being cold or they are and haven't touched the central heating. Mind you many did order twice the norm in preparation for the winter that thus far has yet to come. I am currently in Glasgow; a year ago it was minus 13 C here, today it's plus 13 C !!!

The temp up here at moment is the killer. Also competition is now dumping wood on the market locally , I.e. within 5 mile radius of me, for silly money. I will not sell at those prices. I can get a better price at auction than what they are selling for and that is saying something:thumbdown:

I can go bust just by sitting in the yard. I dont have to work towards it.

Thing,s are ok here sold less wood in the run up to christmas than last year, but put the price up so have made more money, plus last winter bought us a processor,3 tractors, a 6x6 truck with crane and grab and timber trailer with new grab and rotator, all of which is paid for, so we have no machinery to buy, plus no bad back this winter, the machines do the heavy work.

Any timber we dont sell this year can wait till next. I think a few people will be getting burnt fingers this year. Its more by luck than planning we are not one of them. There is still time for some cold weather so we are no where near finished with the season yet.
