As a customer I would suspect that the fall in oil to 47p a litre has the biggest effect. I want a warm house in the most economical way. Might sound silly but it's hard enough to earn the money in the first place. When oil falls in price I guess it increases competition and reduces demand

Not sure I agree with you, Most of my customers 'Like' to have a real fire, Majority don't have them to save money more for decoration / pleasure, Think the weather plays a bigger part than the price of kerosene.

Hi Arb,

I've got a number of domestic Woodfuel pellet customers who have 3 - 4 tonnes a year each, I also sell 1/4 pallets to installers commissioning biomass boilers, I've got reasonable margins but then I order 24x pallets at a time - mixed loads (briquettes, pellets, equestrian pellets), so the unit costs are lower.

At the end of the day it's just another product line / revenue stream.

Matt

Rarely can you have too many strings to your bow - providing they give you a reasonable margin.

You may have started perhaps with just the pellets on a smaller scale and grew that side of the business.

Any advice on a good starting point would be invaluable to us if you are prepared give any. Thanks
