When i was a kid i used to go to work with my old man on a canal. I have fond memories of clearing thick blackthorne with a bowsaw while the blokes were all using chainsaws.

 

Still it was 'character building' and kept me out of trouble lol

I wouldn't dare call myself an arborist untill I could prove that I was.

Look in the Yellow pages and there are guys advertising consultancy with just the RFS Cert'.

Although this is a good starting point it is a basic qualification.

On this note, after reading the UK arborist/ topping thread on the Buzz. Have you noticed how much importance the Yanks give the ISA Certification? Again a basic test (multiple choice to boot).

Don't think that I have got anything against Certified Arb's- I am one myself, but don't give it greater worth than it should have.

Just my thoughts.
