Back to back leylandi hedges.

Year or so ago I had to rip out a leylandi hedge at the rear boundry of a client's house,anyway,behind this hedge was a six foot close boarded fence,and behind this..another leylandi hedge(on the rear boundry of the property behind the clients.Both hedges 2 feet each side of the fence)

Hmm,why would you plant one if the garden backing onto you has one already..last week I removed the remaining hedge for the back to back neighbor,and found it to be the same age as the first one I removed....I concluded that they both wanted privacy,both planted at the same time roughly,and neither realised the other had done the same as the fence obscured the view.

Am I losing the plot,or does this add up?

They have to plant their own in order to be in control of their privacy. Its OK relying on the neighbours hedge for privacy until one day they decide to rip it out.

It may be as huck said,but I find more fun with my way of thinking,and the hedges took up about quarter of each garden!

I put a 5ft feather edged fence about 20m long in someones backgarden last summer, went back there about a month to do work on the tree's and the neighbour had put a 6ft fence all the way along my 5ft! had like a foot gap inbetween!!!
