Just curious as i know an arbtalker who's struggling to find a groundie for part time work, everytime he gets a reply they end up saying oh thats to far.

I did a day for an arbtalker last year and i traveled from faversham to dartford, i appreciate that fuel is taking into the equasion and that will lower wot you earn for the day, Wots considered reasonable traveling as a subbie?

Personally ? Depends on the rate of pay and Where the work is, I live in Hudd's but I've driven over to Darwen [ near Blackburn ] for work and St Helens and when I was doing a bit of Cabling work with a mate who's a sparky we travelled from Halifax to Hull daily for a few months.

If the pay is high enough to cover fuel costs so I'm breaking an alright-ish wage I'll go wherever really.

Sorry if thats a bit vague Plip but totally dependent on where / how much in my eyes :laugh1:

I`ve travelled for a hour there and an hour back for a couple of years but i wouldn`t want to do it all the time. It`s a waste of life. For one off`s or a week or so maybe further but basically the less travel the better. Depends how much you need the work.

Whats subbing?

I think a true freelancer should be able and prepared to travel, but regular part time work is different and each person would have to look at their lifetsyle and decide whats best for them. Family ties etc would mean some would not want to travel much, but if you live at home with your mum and she cooks your tea on demand then time is not so important.

Also depends on how much they want the work and how much long term benefit the experience will do them.
