Theres a good chance we will have to be seen doing something as it's on school grounds.

why? its an interesting, natural and harmless event? they should be sympathetic to that...

could always get a broom and a sack and re-locate them if they are that worried...

Exactly, if its in a school turn it into an educational thing! You could even do a talk on it Rob, might be good for buisness.

They aren’t going to fly to their next meal, they are off to pupate procreate and die.

If you do anything, just educate your client that there is little point in hurling insecticide about to no good use.

That's another way to look at it. Considering they are harmless, they did say it's been a part of a nature lesson but they are unsure of it's risks. I'll mentionnthat nothing needs to be done, just leave them be and maybe pu a sign up about it

Ermine moth - Yponomeuta evonymellus. Defoliated bird cherries on my patch last year, trees are fine this year. Council Biodiversity officer put up signs explaining what was going on, no problems. Leave 'em be!

About

Arbtalk.co.uk is a hub for the arboriculture industry in the UK.
If you're just starting out and you need business, equipment, tech or training support you're in the right place.  If you've done it, made it, got a van load of oily t-shirts and have decided to give something back by sharing your knowledge or wisdom,  then you're welcome too.
If you would like to contribute to making this industry more effective and safe then welcome.
Just like a living tree, it'll always be a work in progress.
Please have a look around, sign up, share and contribute the best you have.
