What is going on??? We are having the michael taken out of us!!!! A week after Shell and BP announced profits of 9 billion and 7 billion dollars for first quarter repectively i have just paid £1.43 for a litre of diesal!!!! How can this be allowed?? We are being taken for mugs. Surely it is time to somehow put a stop to this....i dont know how but it would take a united front. Everybody just refusing to buy into this.....even for a couple of days.....i dont know what the answer is.....Any ideas anybody???

It's not the oil companies it's the banks.

The banks inflated the money supply over the last ten years and drove up the price of oil to $144 back in 2008. Then they realised they where bust, held the world to ransom and we in the UK had to bail them with £800 billion - makes BP profits look like peanuts.

And guess what the banks are doing with the bail-out money? Yep, bidding up the price of oil on the commodities markets.:sneaky2:

Do some research and you'll see that this is 100% correct.

have any of you heard about 'peak oil'? if not look it up. It's a limited resource and us humans have apparently got through more then half of what we know is in the ground, and more of us are using more of it then at any time in history. Hence... prices go up.

While you're all cursing and moaning about the cost of fuel, you might want to fill up before next week. I remembered reading in the paper last week that there were fuel protests planned for the early part of May!

This is all I can find on it at the moment. UK motorists aim to block refinery as petrol soars | Energy & Oil | Reuters

If it happens, then you have the choice to either make a stand and join the frontline of the protest or alternatively join the rest of the sheep at the end of the queue at the petrol station. :001_tt2::lol::sheep:

And by filling up before the protest you are defeating the object:001_smile:

who here would do anything about there usage. we're quick to moan but who wuld set a limit on the distance they travel to 30 miles and if they got an enquirey out side the area then pass it on to a colleague and hence reducing fuel usage, carbon emisions, etc. who would do it? would i do it? :001_huh: it could work with a recipricol arrangement

oh goody goody the prospect of a fuel protest/blockade. I remember the last time this was tried, all it seemed to achieve was a massive inconveniance to everyone and nothing else.

The oil companies are a buisness and a buisness has to make money. As others have stated most of the cost of a litre of fuel goes to the government and only a small percentage to the oil company. The government needs to raise revenue to stop the country going down the pan thanks to the last shower of poop that ran the country so taxing the thing that we all use makes sense to me. We don't like it but what is the alternative?

I couldnt care about the fuel I use in work time as my customers pay for that.

Its getting to and from work and the other bits in between that I dont want to pay for.:laugh1:

I dont believe a word that the fuel companies hardly make any money on selling fuel, in fact if you listen to anyone who seems to have quarterly profits of £xxx squillion none of them make any money,ever.:confused1:

Besides they only talk about profits and as far as I know thats after their not so modest income's.

Unlikely, the human race is too selfish, wouldnt be long before everyone started bickering about patches and crap

actually ....I do !!!!

sometimes it just doesnt work out to deliver 25 miles and add a delivery charge on top when there is another firewood company just 2 miles away from them.

i must add though, for me to do this i have to know and be friendly with that person/company, which i am and we quite often visit eachothers yards and help eachother out.

i have never got teritorial with ""my patch"" as there is plenty of business out there to be had, but customers can be ficcle and not hear off them from one year to another, and then suddenly they come back.
