Damaged limb advice

it was me who walked last week !

i tolk the customer 6 months ago that it was failing and priced according as im friends with his son inlaw it was a favour to him wen he started been awcward i walked.

nothing to do with the job it was not hard to do last week it was clear of the wires so the tree owners fault for been acward .

aswinny for the record the tree oficer is aware of the tree and no tpo on it so no worries there also the whole tree is leaning over so its best felled an plenty of logs to be had.

I bet BT still make them pay for it as it was their tree. BT let nothing go these days !

The man in question was unbelievebly rude! his first words were if u damage the drive your responsible, if u damage the grass your responsible, if the wires come down your responsible as im hiring you! as my other half said he went and looked at it 6month ago and told him then it was only a matter of time before it would split further

we went with all intention of doing the job but after bieng spoken to like pieces of dog muck we walked away cant tell how much i laughed my socks off this morn when i seen it!!

Hopefully that's a very bad move by him.

 

With any luck bt will bill him since he new it was unsound but failed to do anything about it.

 

At least no one was hurt or injured when it failed.

Unfortunatly I doubt BT will bill him. Its their wire, across his land to provide a service they get paid for. They have to re install the wire, but swinny should stay well out of it, could end up with a bill for not seeign to it quick enough if this guy is as much of a twit as he sounds.

any comeback on swinny il be happy to back him up also i rung tree officer and told him 6months ago so witnesses available.

i recomend him taking pictures and getting him to sign a piece of paper saying its already on the ground.

Signing stuff doesn't alter the truth, so no need for it. Swinny should just leave it alone, there wont be any comback and if there is it can be ignored.

Pictures are enough proof that the limb was damaged before failing. If the land owner chose not to do anything about it before it failed then its between him and the utility company. On our travels we've seen really dodgy (split, hanging) limbs on and over utility wires. Last one we saw was a 60 foot oak with a heavy lean on it as soon as we alerted the land owner and utility company they were out there by that time the tree had hit the 150,000 volt wire and the tree had become ash within a few hours.
