vermeer bc150 not chipping well.

the council yard have a vermeer chipper, except that one has a conveyor. Often when chipping thin stuff, mainly if it was wet or conifer / really thin it would clog up around the blades and inside. I imagine it is doing the same in yours. If you send a good sized branch through it should clear it up and throws it all out. It worked for me

The knives should clear the shear bar by 3mm, make sure you have a manly torque wrench though as if you are adjusting the gap you have to torque to 270 Nm.

The shear bar can be turned around as it does have two edges

 

while your at it the roller gap can be wedged open through crap being wedge below the bottom roller this can be accessed from a plate below and will help gripping and dragging brush in.

Apart from that I know nuffing...

Hi I have a bc150 mine chips fine and can chuck the chip right to the front of my lorry if you do have any probs changing the anvil you can give me a call it is dead easy.

 

This bc150 are good machines but they do need a little help along at times remember to keep the blades sharp if you are using the machine everyday do it every 2 weeks.

If you don't you will alway get large bits of chips so the flywheel cant spin. There are 3 switches two on the safety bar and one that engages the clutch these can cause you downtime if you don't carry spares. One more thing if you chip London plane you will have to blow the radiator clean every hour as the machine cuts out.

hello again, i adjusted the anvil today giving it a 3mm distance from the blade and gave it a test, i tried abit of cord and it chipped lovely and small so after i tried abit of crack willow and it just dribbled out the spout. soo a little confused i checked the belt and noticed it was extremely loose to the point you could just pull it off and it didnt look to good, can the belt stretch ? and if they do does this effect the peformance?. I looked for a belt tensioner but couldnt see nout.

regards to tensioner it tensions when you engage after starting up ! you would be better discussing with vermeer uk a guy called kevin he is ever so helpfull he can tell you precisley what to do helped me out countless times no 01933274400, :001_smile:

We had one of the first batch of bc150's and we had a problem where the fly wheel housing was designed where it did not fit (like as in a circle but had a squared out area where the debris could eddie around) and it would dribble then block up to eight times a day, I presume yours has been changed, ours was and it made a huge difference, check it just in case.

 

just keep everything serviced, greasing, changing blades, new air filters once a month, oil and filters every 100 hours, anvil when ever it needs to be done (£80) and when you do London plane, don't over stuff it give it bit of breathing space between branches.

 

When it over heats the top red light will stay on, clean the pre filter on the radiator, and put the blower on gentle into the front of the rad.
