Hi whats the going rate for a good freelance climber?

only asking as ive been asking for £100 a day for every day jobs providing all kit, ppe, rigging kit & saws etc or £150 if its big awkward dismantle taking all day.

But had a groundsman with CS38 offering me his services for £120! a day and was just wondering if im shooting myself in my foot?

i normally pay between £50-75 for a groundsman with tickets.

Also don't think it shouldn't matter but all kit is loler'd and im registered self employed, insured etc etc

Many Thanks simon

not easily though... a good groundsman is worth alot more than that.. 50 pound a day isnt even worth the effort to be come trained, you may aswell get a labourer in. i'm not saying 120 isnt a bit steep, but i cant see how you can justify askin 150 for yourself and paying a groundie 50.

It's not that bad? £50 a day working 5 times a week is roughly £1000 a month before tax? A lot of people live on a lot less! It's not amazing but it's not terrible

Your assuming there is work 5 days a week! Self employed means no garantees, work could be cancelled, weather might not be goo enough, the mian boss might not feel like it that day, you might need a day of for something all of which means no pay.

50 quid is for chipper feeders with no tickets IMO.

Tickets 60-70 depending on age/experience.

Pre 97 license plus tickets then 80-100. (assumign they are arrivign at yard at taking truck and chipper to job, not just turning up on site expecting everything laid on for them)

An experinced groundie is worth more than a less experienced climber IMO.
